National Obesity Trends in the US are becoming staggering!  Here are some statistics from the Centers for Disease Control:

About one-third of U.S. adults (33.8%) are obese.
Approximately 17% (or 12.5 million) of children and adolescents aged 2—19 years are obese.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention states that obesity is linked to:

  • Certain forms of cancer (including endometrial, breast, prostate, and colon)
  • Type 2 diabetes
  • High blood pressure
  • High blood cholesterol
  • Coronary heart disease
  • Congestive heart failure
  • Sleep apnea
  • Gout
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Gallstones
  • Strokes
  • Complications of pregnancy
  • Infertility
  • Bladder control problems
  • Depression
  • Eating disorders
